A referral is a note from your doctor stating that he or she would like you to have
a colonoscopy.
If you are healthy and not having any symptoms, a referral is not needed.
However, if you are having symptoms and do not meet the criteria for a screening colonoscopy, the performing physician may ask to see a referral
from your primary physician. Whether a physician will ask for a referral depends on the performing physician and the situation. Approx, 85% of colonoscopies through our program do not require a referral.
If a referral is required, ColonoscopyAssist will contact you and let you know.
If one is require and you do not have a referral, we will help you get one or arrange a consultation with a specialist before the colonoscopy to meet this requirement.
