How much does an MRI cost on average?

Prices for MRI vary greatly depending on

  • the city and facility you go to
  • the body part and
  • whether the study is performed with contrast or without contrast.

You have to keep in mind that an MRI study results in the patient being billed by 2 different entities. A patient should expect separate bills from the radiologist office and facility.

Without insurance, a patient should on average expect to pay $3000 for a MRI. A considerable savings can be achieved if you schedule through Radiology Assist.

Why is the cost of an MRI significantly lower through the program?

Radiology Assist was founded on the principle that health care should be affordable and accessible to everyone. The lower cost is achieved by convincing physicians and facilities to agree to accept a discounted rate to support the mission of the program. The wonderful physicians that participate in the program are the real ones to thank.
